Applebee’s restaurants operated by Nebraska-based RMH Franchise had a data breach that could have compromised guests’ names, credit or debit card numbers, expiration dates and card verification codes.
RMH operates Applebee’s in Kentucky in Lexington (three locations), Crestview Hills, Danville, Florence, Frankfort, Georgetown, Highland Heights, Maysville, Mount Sterling, Winchester, Nicholasville and Richmond.
A March 2 press release posted on the RMH website said the company was “providing this notice to our guests as a precaution to inform them of the incident and to call their attention to some steps they can take to help protect themselves.”
Dates vary by location, although most Kentucky restaurants appear to have been affected from December 6, 2017 to January 2, 2018.
The incident was discovered on Feb. 13, RMH says in the release. Payments made online or using self-pay tabletop devices were not affect by the incident, RMH says.
The company advises Applebee’s patrons who may have been affected to monitor card statements for unauthorized charges and possibly review their credit reports.
Questions should go to the RMH call center at 888-764-7357 between 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Friday.
